Introduction

One of the many things I love in the world is nature and being outdoors. In the winter, I enjoy skiing and in the summer, my obsession turns towards hiking and backpacking. Over the past year and a half, I have not updated my art blog. Honestly, I've been doing a lot less art, since inspiration seems to come in waves and phases. I've been less inclined to share what I have been creating artistically.

I am starting this blog as a way to record and share photos, hikes, and plans. So far this summer, I've spent the night in Point Reyes and completed several car camping trips and day hikes. This is a place to record backpacking information, gather links in one place, and make notes of trips, tips, etc.

In one week from today, I take off for Lake Tahoe for a 4 day backpacking trip. This will be the first REAL SOLO backpacking trip I have done. I spent the night in Point Reyes alone and everything worked out very well. The truth is though, Point Reyes is more like a longer hike to a car camping spot. For one thing, there are picnic tables and food storage boxes at every site. There are toilets and trash cans, as well as clean water available. This means I do not have to worry about carrying a heavy bear canister (there are no bears in Point Reyes, only raccoons, skunks, and other small creatures) nor do I have to worry about packing out disgusting trash. Point Reyes is also pretty crowded. If one were to fall and hurt oneself, someone would come along in a matter of hours. However, it is a beautiful place and I thoroughly enjoyed my trip there.
